Understanding Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace

This interactive workshop focuses on gaining a better understanding of how people’s emotional intelligence impacts on performance and behaviour in the workplace. This engaging and entertaining session will focus on building understanding and skills in important areas such as empathy, optimism, self-reliance and self-awareness along with other emotional intelligence competencies.

Attendees will gain insight into how people’s emotional intelligence impact on leadership styles, and the leadership styles of others around them. People of all backgrounds will gain valuable lessons into how emotional intelligence can impact on the culture of their teams and discuss some strategies as to how to become a more emotionally intelligent leader. Networking opportunities will be available for attendees at the conclusion of this interactive workshop.


Speaker: Matt Connell, Executive Workplace Consultant, Workplace Harmony Solutions

Matt has held Senior HR management positions in community service, local government, travel, and hospitality. He is passionate about developing constructive leadership capabilities in others so they may better empower, engage and enhance performance in their own team members. He has coached hundreds of organisational leaders in Emotional Intelligence and, as a certified HR practitioner and Victorian State President of AHRI, is a strong advocate for the HR profession.

Matt spent seven years working in Adventure Travel and has worked and travelled in six continents driving zodiacs in Antarctica, taking tours to Aboriginal sites in Central Australia and the Kokoda Track in PNG. His experience and success delivering leadership development has resulted in an opportunity to host a special program on the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain in July 2019.
