Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace
Approximately 1 in 5 Australian adults experience a common mental illness each year. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training teaches practical skills to support someone with a mental health problem. The benefits of MHFA training include increased knowledge of mental illnesses, treatments and first aid actions; increased confidence in providing first aid; decreases stigmatising attitudes; increases the support provided to others.
This session will provide an overview of the MHFA workshop program and is aimed at any workplaces interested in learning more about the program and its benefits. We will discuss how to become an accredited Mental Health First Aider, the benefits of appointing MHFA officers in the workplace, and how your workplace can become recognised as a MHFA skilled workplace.
