Cognitive flexibility has been described as the mental ability to switch thinking between two different concepts, and to think about multiple concepts simultaneously.
In this session Chris will explore the concept and discuss:
1. What is Cognitive flexibility and why it is such an important executive function of the brain
2. What makes Cognitive flexibility so difficult in the workplace
3. How a simple change of language can shift the areas of the brain we use (or attempting to use) to maximise cognitive flexibility.
Chris will briefly explore the structure of the brain and how it relates to human motivation to help define the concept of cognitive flexibility. He will show the executive function in real world terms of success.
Attendees of all skill levels will take away a clearer understanding of the role they play not only in their own cognitive flexibility but how they influence the flexibility of others. The concepts around metacognition and non-threatening conversations are practical takeaways for everyday use by all practitioners.
