Mental Health Awareness 2019 – A Time to Change
Reducing the stigma around mental health in the workplace.
World Mental Health Day, 10th of October every year, is a day for raising awareness of mental health issues and providing support and education of mental health around the world.
Despite the World Health Organisation prioritising suicide as a key issue for a number of years, the stigma associated with mental illness and suicide has been a roadblock to speaking openly about the subject.
Now is the time to speak out against the stigma surrounding mental health at the workplace.
This event will take the form of a panel discussion, where we will hear from the perspectives of those who have suffered from mental health issues, and those who have experience working and supporting in this space.
Speaker: James Hill
After working in operational roles with Energex, James now has the full time role of Mental Health Advocate for Energy Queensland. James has an ambition to break down the stigma that surrounds speaking out about mental health and is a public speaker for Beyondblue.
Speaker: Josh Quarmby
Founder of Blokepedia. Josh is working towards a vision of creating a caring and supportive community that encourages men to connect, openly share their stories and discuss the issues and topics that affect them.
Speaker: Dr Diane Harner
Managing Director of CleverMinds Consulting, Diane is a neuroscientist who has a mission to help people understand their own behaviour and the behaviour of others, to drive performance and engagement.
