Role of AI in HR’s Digital Transformation

Technology, especially in the form of AI (Artificial Intelligence) is changing the way of HR by providing new ways of working, closing knowledge gaps, increasing engagement and solving business problems. Many companies struggle to implement real and meaningful digital initiatives that drive sustainable competitive business advantages.

Hear a panel discussion about how AI is contributing to the digital transformation of HR and the possible issues that moving towards a digital HR/OD space has on workers, work and the workplace.

Speaker: Yasaman Motazedi, Lead data-scientist, Curious Thing

Yasaman has an MSc in Artificial Intelligence and a PhD in Computer Science from Macquarie University, Australia. Her main research focus has been on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Generation (NLG) using Machine Learning methods.

She started her out-of-academia career by joining Macquarie Bank, OwnersAdvisory™ team to build a platform for generating on-demand and highly personalised financial advice. After the maturity of the platform in early 2017, Yasaman decided to continue working with fast-paced and innovative teams to maximise her contribution and self-growth. She worked with FlamingoAI and MyAdvisor prior to its acquisition by MYOB.

Speaker: Steve Elliott, Partner, Deloitte

As a Partner in Deloitte’s Human Capital Practice, Steve leads the Workforce Transformation, Collective Intelligence offering in Defence. He has been instrumental in the development of Workforce Ai Augmentation and leading organisations into the Future of Work and Industry 4.0, by creating a smarter, leaner, faster workforce based on the collective intelligence of a human-machine system. 

Prior to joining Deloitte, Steve served as a Submarine Combat Systems Officer in the UK before emigrating to Australia 15 years ago and choosing consulting as his second career. Steve has worked in both, Tier 1 and internal consulting roles, as well as running his own consulting business. As a Management Professional and Chartered Engineer, Steve brings expertise in Collective and Artificial Intelligence, Workforce Ai Augmentation, Organisational Design, Business Transformation, and Corporate Strategy.


Speaker: John Macy, Founder and MD, Competitive Edge Technology

John Macy is a member of AHRI’s Technology Advisory Panel. He is an AHRI Life Fellow and has been the convener of the HRMS Network for more than two decades.

He founded Competitive Edge Technology in 1994 after a long career in Qantas and has consulted to some of the world’s best known companies in the USA, Asia and Australia on HR technology matters. He is considered a thought leader in the HR technology industry and has written several books on the subject.

His company is about to roll out the first blockchain application to give data ownership to employees and deliver trusted and verified data to the HR profession. He is passionate about data standards, privacy and the transparency of Artificial Intelligence algorithms.
