“A World Café is a structured conversational process for knowledge sharing in which groups of people discuss a topic at several tables, with individuals switching tables periodically and getting
introduced to the previous discussion at their new table by a ‘table host’.” Wikipedia
Our World Cafe will discuss the following topics covered by our five fantastic speakers who shared their knowledge and experience during 2019 - topics of vital importance to the sustained relevance and successful contribution of L&D professionals to the new world of work all organisations face:
AHRI L&D Committee member Marie O’Brien will facilitate the event, kicking off with a brief recap of the topics covered through the year. Other Committee members will host each of the tables to support (and scribe key points from) each table conversation.
The event will finish with the key output from each table conversation being shared with the whole group.
As with all our events we endeavour to make it a practical learning experience where participants can apply their new knowledge back in their workplace, therefore the recorded table and group output will also be made digitally available to all participants after the event.
Our L&D Network theme for this year is “Thinking differently about L&D” so if you're a professional who is interested in innovative ways to develop your people for high performance come along. You will also enjoy the time and space to meet like-minded professionals to share ideas and experiences around how to apply these ideas back at work.
Facilitator: Marie O’Brien
Marie O’Brien helps organisations identify and remove barriers so their high performers can shine.
Organisations typically already have the talent and the resources to deliver on their purpose. However, with current levels of complexity these things are often not aligned, or worse, at cross purposes - working at far less than their combined potential. With structured guidance Marie helps focus that talent to collectively makes sense of, take ownership of these challenges and create practical and sustainable solutions that they are highly motivated to implement.
Her purpose is to expose her clients to new ways of thinking and dealing with the complexity of today to build a high performing culture and sustainable future, and a world cafe is one of her favourite methodologies to facilitate!
Marie has been a member of the AHRI NSW L&D Committee since 2017.
