Performance Management That Doesn’t Suck

Get the best out of your team by unlearning everything you were taught about performance management.

It’s widely recognised that annual reviews are ineffective for developing high performance teams and there is a global trend of dumping them. The new approach is for continuous performance development, but HR leaders have been left with the big challenge of implementing this new way consistently across organisational teams.

Modern performance management isn’t a once a year process. It’s an ongoing, employee driven way of working that engages and empowers employees through a modern leadership approach.

Find out how innovative companies avoid the use of control and how they empower their employee’s performance from the ground up, and truly help them to succeed. Learn how to create an environment where individuals are engaged, aligned and motivated to be their best. With this new approach you’ll have happier employees, retain them longer and build performance faster.

This presentation will cover:
- How often should performance reviews be done
- Why performance reviews are broken
- How the best companies lift employee performance
- How leading and lagging indicators play into performance reviews

There will be structured networking from 5.30pm with the presentations starting at 6.00pm sharp. This will be followed by facilitated table discussions around the topic for a 7.30pm finish.

Our L&D Network theme for this year is “Thinking differently about L&D” so if you’re a professional who is interested in innovative ways to develop your people for high performance come along. You will not only hear from guest speakers who are leaders their respective fields, but will also enjoy the time and space to have (facilitated and ad hoc!) discussions with like-minded professionals to share ideas and experiences around how to apply these ideas back at work.

Speaker: Mark Lewis, CEO & Cofounder, Crewmojo

Mark is a people focused entrepreneur with a passion and curiosity for discovering new approaches to traditional ways. He says "It feels like the corporate world has been mostly focused on process efficiency for the last 40 years and in a talent economy we now have to focus on the biggest impact of all - developing our people."

Mark was previously co-founder and CEO of IP Payments, Australia’s leading payment gateway that was acquired by Private Equity in 2015. He has experience building highly engaged teams and a continued thirst for learning novel ways to lead great people. Mark has an Engineering background, loves a practical joke and his weird dance moves are a must-see.
