Reflections of 22 years on the Bench - the dramatic rise in individual disputes and applications by unrepresented litigants
Former Deputy President Sams resided over thousands of matters in his 22 years on the Bench, initially as a member of the NSW IRC, before being appointed to the Fair Work Commission in 2010, where he served until his recent retirement.
DP Sams will share with members his views on the dramatic rise of individual disputes and applications by unrepresented litigants, as well as give some insights on what he considers to be the elements of an effective representation in the Commission.

Speaker: Peter Sams, Former Deputy President, Fair Work Commission
Peter Sams AM was appointed to Fair Work Commission in 2010, where he served as a Deputy President until his recent retirement. Immediately prior to that, he had eleven years as the Deputy President of the NSW IRC. Prior to his roles in the NSWIRC and Fair Work Commission, Peter served as the Secretary of the NSW Labor Council between 1994 and 1998, where he started his career as an Industrial Officer.
Peter now runs his own consultancy specialising in Dispute Resolution.
