Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)

ADR enables disputes to be resolved at the lowest appropriate level often with no need for escalation.  Attendees will gain an understanding of what ADR is and how it can be used to resolve workplace disputes.

Speaker: Sue Brereton, Alternative Dispute Resolution Specialist, TAFE NSW

Sue joined TAFE NSW in late 2017 to develop and implement an Alternative Dispute Resolution program. Prior to working at TAFE NSW Sue spent the majority of her working life associated with the Australian Defence Department, serving as a soldier, an Army Officer and a public servant. Sue also served as an Australian Army Cadet Officer in the role of Program Development Manager for the organisation. In this role Sue was responsible for the development of a program to train the adult cadet officers to develop leadership skills, problem solving skills and general life skills in the adolescent members of the organisation.

In 2010 Sue was successful in gaining a position in Defence as a Dispute Resolution Practitioner. She provided services such as mediation, Interactive Problem Solving, Conflict Management Coaching, Facilitated Conversations, Group Facilitation and workshops to the military, public servant and contractors of the organisation in NSW.
